Common-sense leadership for Arlington!

Meet Joe Warren

A lifelong commitment to public service

"I've lived in Arlington for over twenty years, residing in Columbia Forest where I'm a member of the Civic Association.

"I have a masters degree in economics from the University of Pittsburgh. My bachelors degree is in history; I taught two years in the University Heights/Cleveland Heights School system after three years of service in the US Army from 1966-69.

"Professionally, I spent nearly 24 years with the US Government Accountability Office working primarily on transportation issues. I'm a member of the Transportation Research Forum and have done part-time consulting.

"In 2002 I worked with the Arlington County Tapayers Association in analyzing a sample of residential complaints filed with the Board of Equalization. Our work contributed to passing new legislation the following year.

"For more than three years I have been a member of Arlington's Transit Advisory Committee, where I did detailed analysis of the Columbia Pike Streetcar project.

"I have been a volunteer at Wakefield High School where I implemented a Toastmasters Youth Leadership program in a 10th grade English class. For the last three years and currently, I have volunteered with the Northern Virginia section of Special Olympics, which provides activities for the learning disabled."
